A look back on our third RVA Bike Month.
RVA Bike Month 2016 was a lot of things.
It was wet. Like, the wettest on record. It was huge, with over 60 events (though a few got rained out). It was vivacious, with lots of new faces and organizations joining in the work and the fun. It had more ice cream, photography, art, pizza, mountain biking, brewery tours, history, bike polo, racing, bike valet, cleanups, and MORE. And also ice cream. We also got to do some bike skills training at both Henrico and Chesterfield County government complexes, and the month enjoyed the prelude of Governor McAuliffe announcing our new RVA to DC ride on the steps of the Capitol!
Here’s a little photo set to paint a good picture. We can’t thank our awesome group of over 33 volunteer ride leaders enough for bringing their enthusiasm and creativity to make this year’s RVA Bike Month more exciting and interesting, chock full of different ride formats for anyone. Special shout-out to Breakaway RVA, I Am RVA, Bell Joy Ride, and especially Lakeside Business Association for stepping up in a big way! We had some great bike shop partners, too! Richmond Bicycle Studio, Outpost Richmond, Shift Bicycles, Molly’s Bicycles, Carytown Bicycle Company, and 3Sports!
We look forward to continuing to build RVA Bike Month next year. We’ll probably shake it up a little bit to keep it fresh. We want you to be a part of it. Bring your ideas, your friends, your empty stomach, and your bike, and we’re gonna celebrate the heck out of biking in the Richmond region.
