There are over 8,000 of us involved with Sports Backers. Collectively we encourage an active lifestyle in all corners of our community. It doesn’t matter if you are filling cups at a water stop, leading a fitness class, or advocating for bike infrastructure, we are all part of the same team. Together we each contribute to the magic that makes our nationally recognized programs and events come to life and help our families, friends, and neighbors live actively. No matter how you’re volunteering, you’re helping accomplish our overall goal of making Richmond a place where everyone can enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle. We need talented people like you to bring smiles and energy to make our community even more vibrant. We love Richmond, and we know you do too, so let’s keep the movement going!

- President’s Council, Sports Backers’ young professional group, meets once a month to socialize, network, and discuss ways to give of their time and talents to the community through our events and programs. - With the help of 400 volunteer coaches for our 8k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon training teams, more than 6,000 individuals prepare for these events each year.
