It’s not every day you can glance out the window of your conference room and lay eyes on a state championship track meet. But lucky for us, that’s exactly what we get to do here at Sports Backers Stadium.
Here’s the low down for you history buffs:
| August 25, 1999 | Opening Day: Sports Backers Stadium, featuring the Irwin Belk Athletic Center and Richard A. Hollander Track, officially opens with a Donor Recognition Celebration. |
| Spring 2001 | Final Touches: Construction of the skyboxes, press box and the Sports Backers’ offices is complete. |
| June 2001 | Moving Day: The Metropolitan Richmond Sports Backers officially take up residence in their new home. |
| Fall 2011 | Extreme Makeover, Office Edition: The Sports Backers crew upgrades their digs to better reflect the culture of the organization. |

Sports Backers Stadium’s international caliber track provides an ideal setting for regional, national and even international track and field meets.

Teams & Events
Sports Backers Stadium is home to Virginia Commonwealth University’s and Virginia Union University’s track and field teams, as well as VCU’s men’s and women’s soccer teams.
The stadium has played host to:
- USA Track & Field Junior National Championships
- Colonial Athletic Association Track and Field Championships,
- Virginia High School League Track and Field Championships
- Tons of other track and soccer events
