Lydia Johnson

Dermatologist, Private Practice

Dr. Lydia Johnson is a Board-certified dermatologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience.  Currently in private practice in the Richmond area, she is the former chair of the Department of Dermatology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond Virginia, where she continues to educate and mentor residents as an affiliate associate professor.  Dr. Johnson joined the faculty of VCU Dermatology in 2018 following a 16-year career in private practice in the Richmond community with Dermatology Associates of Virginia.

Dr. Johnson is passionate about healthy living and exercise, especially endurance running.  In 2020, she combined her passion for optimal healthy living with her medical expertise by becoming Board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine as well as becoming a trauma informed certified coach.   Most recently, she served as a volunteer coach for Kids RunRVA.

Dr. Johnson grew up in Richmond and received her Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from Stanford University and her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.  She is also involved in several local and national medical associations and has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Richmond Academy of Medicine, St. Christopher’s School, UVA Medical Alumni Association, Richmond SPCA, and Richmond Ballet.

In addition to these involvements and most importantly, Dr. Johnson is a wife, mother of three sons, and devoted daughter.
