Registration now open for 5k to be held June 6
RICHMOND, VA – Sports Backers today announced a new partnership with Markel, making the Richmond-based global specialty insurer the title sponsor of the Markel Corporate Run. Registration is now open for the running and walking event, often dubbed “Richmond’s Biggest Office Party”, that will be held Thursday, June 6, at Innsbrook Office Park. The partnership shows Markel’s commitment to promoting health, wellness, and corporate camaraderie.
“Markel is grateful to be part of this beloved corporate event and this partnership with Sports Backers,” said Sue Davies, Chief Human Resources Officer. “We believe in the power of a healthy workforce, and together, we look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of participants and our community.”
The 2024 Markel Corporate Run will mark the 15th running of the event and is one of the region’s premier corporate running events. Last year’s Corporate Run welcomed 146 company teams and over 3,000 participants. The event provides a blend of friendly competition, team building, and a celebration of corporate wellness. With Markel on board, the event is set to reach new heights and deliver an even more memorable experience for participants.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Markel as the title sponsor,” said Sports Backers’ Molly Johnson, event director for the Markel Corporate Run. “Their support not only enhances the overall event experience but also underscores the importance of corporate wellness. Together, we aim to inspire teams to embrace a healthier lifestyle and to further establish Richmond as a great place to live, work, and play.”
The official event charity for the Markel Corporate Run is Greater Richmond Fit4Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children’s health and reducing the prevalence of childhood obesity in the Richmond region. Fit4Kids offers innovative programs that promote physical activity and healthy eating in schools, community organizations, and beyond.
Companies interested in participating in the Markel Corporate Run can attend the upcoming Team Captain Rally to learn more about the event. The rally will be held on March 20 at the Innsbrook Capital Ale House from 5-7:00p.m. and will feature door prizes, raffles, and other giveaways.
