Cross the finish line when you want to!
The Sports Backers Marathon is a custom race experience which gives you the chance to discover the Virginia Capital Trail on your preferred schedule but with the race day essentials you need for an enjoyable experience from start to finish. From March 11-13, you’ll be able to run the race of your choice, as well as pick your race day and start time. We’ll take care of the rest with onsite packet pick up, touchless bottle refill stations, timing, and of course great swag!
Bib and Packet Pick-up
Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k, and 4-Person Relay packets include:
- Choice of unisex technical tee or ladies cut technical tank
- Finisher Medal
- Cooling Headband (Full, Half, and Relay ONLY)
- Event Bib
On-site Participants
Participants will be assigned and receive their bib on-site at Dorey Park. Be prepared to present your Driver’s License or ID at the tent. This can be done on the race day you select or any day between March 11-13 from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
On-site participants will receive their finisher items post race using the tear tag on your bib.
Virtual Participants
If you have selected to have your packet mailed, you can expect to receive it in the second week of March*. There is an additional $10 shipping fee to do so.
New! 4-Person Relay
Running is more fun together! Grab three friends and take part in the inaugural Sports Backers Marathon 4-Person Relay. Each team member will complete a 5-7.5 mile leg. Relay teams will be scored in a separate leaderboard.
To register, designate a Relay Team Captain to create the team. Once the team is created, members can join. To register as a team member, click here and select “Join Existing Team” in the registration link.
Sports Backers Challenge
Multiple days equals more hours to complete spring’s most brag-worthy feat, the Sports Backers Challenge. Conquer the Sports Backers Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k (either on our official course, virtually, or a combo) during March and earn a special medal!
