Harvest Hustle

Event Details

Get ready to fall into fun at the Harvest Hustle 5k and 1-miler! This event combines all-things fall with a healthy dose of exercise—it’s the perfect excuse to get outside! Stroll (or sprint) through Byrd Park, breathe in the crisp autumn air, and soak in the gourd-eous colors of fall. After you complete 1 or 3.1 miles, stick around for our fall festival.

1 Mile (4 years and older)
Through September 20: $15
September 21- October 23: $15 youth / $20 adult (ages 15+)
Race Week Pricing October 24-29: $25 youth / $30 adult (ages 15+)

5k (6 years and older)
Through September 20: $25
September 21 – October 23: $25 youth / $30 adult (ages 15+)
Race Week Pricing October 24-29: $35 youth / $40 adult (ages 15+)

Cancellation Policy

Entries are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be deferred to another year. This is a rain or shine event. Entry fees are non-refundable, even in the case of a race cancellation, postponement, event format changes, and/or if you are unable to participate. Race numbers and entries cannot be transferred to another person. No exceptions. This means once we have received your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, and you may not give or sell your number to anyone else. Anyone found participating with another person’s number will be disqualified and both people will be barred from future Sports Backers events, including the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k and Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon.

Race Day Information

Packet Pick-up

Packet pick-up will take place on Saturday, October 29, beginning at 9 AM and will be located at Byrd Park, near the start of the VITA course. Remember all participants must come to packet pick-up in order to receive your bib number and be allowed to participate. Parking

Event Rules

The minimum age to participate in the 1-mile race is 4; the minimum 5k age is 6.
Parents may run with kids aged 8 and under. Parents must sign a companion waiver to do so.
No bicycles or pets are allowed on the course.

Family Meeting Area

We know that watching your little one run off in a crowd can you leave you feeling both excited and nervous. But, we aim to make the race day experience great for participants and the ones cheering them on. The 1-miler will have a secure Family Meeting Area located at the end of the finish chute. Only one parent/guardian will be allowed in the meeting area.

Run with your little one!

One parent/guardian can accompany a child 8 or under in the 1-mile event for free. Race perks (shirt, medal, finish food) will not be included. You must sign a companion waiver during registration or at packet pick up on race day.

Income Based Rate

At Sports Backers, our mission is to inspire people from all corners of our community to live actively. Engaging underserved populations is one of our core values and one way we act on this value is by offering Income Based Rates for our events. These special rates are offered to those who qualify and would otherwise not be able to participate.

Those who make $25,000 or less annually or receive proven TANF, Food Stamp or Energy Assistance Benefits from Social Services and are not currently claimed as a dependent by anyone making above $25,000 annually are eligible for a special $15 rate for the Harvest Hustle 5k or 1-miler. Please provide one of the following documents for verification:

Most Recent Tax Return

For those that qualify for the income-based entry fee, please come by our office or mail the completed mail-in entry form above and your verification document to Sports Backers, 100 Avenue of Champions, Richmond, VA 23230
