The nation’s premier outdoor sports and music festival returns to Richmond’s riverfront May 15-17
RICHMOND, VA – Dominion Energy Riverrock returns to Richmond’s riverfront May 15–17 for its 18th year of outdoor adventure, live music, riverside vibes, and adrenaline-fueled fun. Produced by Sports Backers and Venture Richmond, the free three-day festival transforms downtown Richmond into a celebration of everything that makes the region’s outdoor culture one of a kind.
From trail runs and mountain biking to dog competitions, yoga, climbing, paddling, and live concerts under the Richmond skyline, Dominion Energy Riverrock once again delivers a packed weekend of action for both participants and spectators alike. Registration for participatory events remains open through the weekend at www.riverrockrva.org.
This year’s festival footprint may look a little different due to the Brown’s Island Improvement Project, but the energy and experience fans expect from Dominion Energy Riverrock remains bigger than ever. Festival programming will stretch across Tredegar Street, Tredegar Green, The Foundry, the Belle Isle parking lot, along the riverfront, and the Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront.
Evenings at Dominion Energy Riverrock are guaranteed to be showstopping, with free concerts taking place all weekend long at Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront. Concertgoers may enter and exit the venue throughout performances, though security screening will occur upon each re-entry in accordance with Allianz Amphitheater policies. Dogs will not be permitted inside the amphitheater. More venue information is available at https://www.riverrockrva.com/know-before-you-go/.

The festival will also introduce Riverside Chats presented by WRIC ABC 8News , a new speaker series hosted inside The Foundry featuring conversations focused on outdoor culture, conservation, accessibility, adventure, and the future of Richmond’s riverfront. Programming is scheduled throughout the weekend. Dogs are not permitted inside The Foundry.
Saturday ramps up the action with events including the James River Scramble 10kish, Kayak Boatercross, SUP Cross, Yoga, the Boulder Bash Finals, and the debut of the Fit-X Experience, a high-energy outdoor workout class blending music and movement. Adventure Zones across the festival footprint will also feature free hands-on activities and demos, including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, skateboarding, bouldering, skimboarding, guided group hikes, and a collaborative Community Mural project. These activities are open to all ages.
Sunday keeps the momentum going with the Bust the Banks Half Marathon, Downriver Paddle, Women’s Mountain Bike Clinics, Boulder Blitz climbing competition, Skimboarding, Yoga, and a variety of Adventure Zones. Subaru Ultimate Air Dogs, Dog Agility, and K9 Super Wall competitions will continue throughout the day before the festival wraps at 5:00 p.m.
A diverse selection of regional food trucks will be on-site, featuring popular vendors such as Strawberry Street Events, International Grill, Mark’s Airborne Kettle Corn, Westray’s Finest, Island Noodles, Mimi’s Ice and Custard, Gelati Celesti, Aunt Betty and Uncle Bubbas Chocolate Chip Cookies, JiJi’s Frozen Custard, Goatocado, Flavor Fusion, Espresso A GoGo, Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls, Pretty and Proud, and American Fruity Smoothies.
