Sports Backers Prepares for Move to Active Living Hub Along The fall line
Written by: Nan Callahan, PR & Communications Manager
On July 9th, Sports Backers attended a ribbon cutting for the completion of the Fall Line trail’s Spring Park segment in Henrico County. Not only was it a celebratory day for our region as we celebrated the first completed section of the 43-mile Fall Line, but it was also a milestone day for our team. The Spring Park segment dissects Sports Backers future headquarters, a former bank branch on Lakeside Avenue, with the Fall Line weaving through the ATM lane and wrapping around the building. The property is owned by Henrico County and the site will also serve as a trailhead for the Fall Line, providing restrooms, parking and additional amenities for trail users.

We believe there is no better property in the region for Sports Backers’ future headquarters. Once renovated, the building will include a 750 square foot multi-purpose fitness and training room, a community meeting room, programmable outdoor space, office space for our staff, and direct access to the Fall Line trail.

In addition to hosting free community fitness classes in our multi-purpose fitness room, we’ll lead trainings for youth fitness club coaches, training team coaches, and bike and pedestrian advocates, as well as host community partner meetings. We anticipate over 11,000 visitors each year will utilize the facility.
The renovation of the active living hub is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with completion anticipated by the end of 2024. Sports Backers has embarked on a $1.3 million fundraising campaign to bring the facility online and further our mission of making active living accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Please consider a gift to the Sports Backers Active Living Hub today!
