Emily Schreer

Emily helps make Richmond a better place to bike and walk. As Policy and Planning Manager, she works to advance local and regional plans and policies that support active transportation, with a focus on placemaking projects, community engagement initiatives, and the Fall Line Vision Plan.
Emily loves staying active by biking to her favorite coffee shops for matcha and taking long walks through Richmond’s alleyways. One of her favorite outdoor spots is her garden bed at Maymont Community Garden in Riverview Park, where she enjoys getting her hands in the dirt.
On a day off, you’ll likely find Emily in the letterpress studio at the Visual Arts Center or browsing through one of Richmond’s many thrift stores.
Emily holds a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from American University. She also serves as Lead Organizer at Maymont Community Garden.

Favorite Sports Backers Event? “Marathon because of the energy and second-hand joy that comes from watching my friends run it.”
Favorite non-Sports Backers event? “First Fridays because of the celebration of local artists, music, and opportunity to visit the amazingly curated galleries in our downtown Arts District. And get there by Pulse!”
