Get ready to steal the spotlight in the Dress Up & Run Contest presented by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture! Whether you go all out with a bold group theme or show off a creative solo look, this is your chance to bring the fun, turn heads, and maybe even win a prize—no need to be the fastest to take home some cash!

New this year!

In honor of America’s once-in-a-generation 250th anniversary celebration, the contest will feature a special “American Spirit” costume category. Show off your patriotic pride with creative looks inspired by American history, heritage, and the spirit of the nation.

How to participate

You must be a registered participant in the 2026 Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k, and you must wear your bib number.
Check in at the Info Tent on the north side of Broad Street and Laurel Street between 6:45 and 10 a.m. prior to your race start time. Look for the Dress Up & Run Contest Sign!
You must wear your costume while you participate in the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k.
Winners will be posted by the Wednesday afternoon following race day. Criteria for winning includes creativity, originality, craftsmanship, enthusiasm, and theme.
