Dr. Douglas Cutter, MD

HCA Virginia Sports Medicine

Doug began his sports medicine career in 1987 as the team physician for Manchester High School and has been taking care of active Richmonders ever since.  He became the founding medical director of CJW Sports Medicine (now HCA Virginia Sports Medicine) one year later and has made it his mission to expand and develop the sports medicine program and to assist area athletic programs with their sports medicine needs.  Doug is a regular contributor to The Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Doug has made it a point to service the youth of the Richmond-area.  He currently serves on the Virginia High School League, Sports Medicine Advisory Board and he received the Chesterfield County Youth Service Board’s “Youth Volunteer of the Year Award” for his volunteer efforts in sports medicine for the youth of the county.  In addition, Doug has served as a volunteer at the USOC Olympic Training Sports Medicine facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He has also served as team physician on numerous Olympic-level tournament trips for USA Wrestling and USA Men’s Field Hockey.

Doug has been an integral volunteer for Sports Backers over the years and has served as the medical director for the Richmond Marathon since 2000.
