what are the age requirements for each race?
To participate in the CarMax Tacky Light run, you must be at least 4 years old. Those younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
To participate in the Twilight 1-Mile Kids Run, you must be between 4 and 12 years old.
Can I make changes to my registration?
Yes! In order to make changes to your registration, please follow these directions. Email [email protected] with any questions.

Do you offer a virtual event?
Yes! No matter your reason, we do offer a virtual option for the event so that you can still be a part of the CarMax Tacky Light Run. Who doesn’t want some festive joy! Click here to learn more about our virtual option.
Course and Event Day
Is the event timed?
This event is not timed because we want you to slow down and soak it all in — the tacky lights, the festive joy, and the spirited groups along the course. Snap photos, sing along, and enjoy every sparkling moment. It’s all about fun, not finish times!
When can i pick up my packet?
Packet pickup is available on Friday between 3 and 6pm. Additionally, packet pick up opens at the North Pole in Mid-Lothian Mines Park between 4 and 6pm on race day. To learn more, visit the schedule page.
Will there be bag check?
No, there is no bag check for the CarMax Tacky Light Run.
Can i use a storller or wear a baby carrier?
Strollers, joggers, and child carriers are permitted on the course! Just make sure to stop by packet pickup to sign a waiver for your child and grab your special stroller tag. For everyone’s safety and a smooth event, the tag must be clearly visible and attached to your stroller, jogger, or carrier before you hit the course. Let’s make it a festive day for the whole crew!
Where can I park on event day?
A limited number of parking spaces are available within walking or biking distance to the North Pole on a first come, first serve basis. Click here to learn more.
Our complimentary shuttle bus system, the Polar Express, runs from Brightpoint Community College to the North Pole at Mid-Lothian Mines Park. The shuttle service will run continuously from 4 to 9pm, with limited service beginning at 2:15pm for the Twilight 1-Mile Kids Run. Click here to learn more.
What time does the event end?
The last Polar Express shuttle leaves the North Pole at 9pm.
How do i register for the costume contest or neighborhood superlatives?
Dress to impress in your tackiest, brightest, most festive gear for a chance to win a Top 5 Costume Award. To enter, check in at the Contest Check-In Tent at Mid-Lothian Mines Park between 4:00–6:00 p.m.
The CarMax Tacky Light Run Neighborhood Superlative Contest is back and brighter than ever! This fun competition honors the most dazzling, over-the-top holiday displays in Walton Park. It’s all about community pride, festive cheer, and celebrating the best (and tackiest!) decorations and parties along the course.

How can I become a sponsor or vendor?

Do you offer income-based rates?
