Sports Backers Announces New Organizational Structure and Staff Positions

RICHMOND, VA – Sports Backers, the nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring residents from all corners of the Richmond community to live actively, announces that its Board of Directors recently approved an organizational restructuring intended to better position the organization to fulfill its mission and continue serving the Richmond region. The restructuring includes the elevation of three senior staff members to the newly-created positions of Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Strategic Implementation Officer, and Chief Operating Officer, where they will assist the Executive Director on overall organizational vision. In addition, four staff members across various departments were promoted.

Will Dixon
Chief Administrative Officer

Will Dixon becomes Chief Administrative Officer after serving as Director of Sponsorship and Development since 2016. In his new role, he’ll strive to enhance Sports Backers’ marketing, sponsorship, and fundraising efforts to maximize the impact that the organization’s events and programs have on the health and vibrancy of the Richmond region. He’ll aim to further elevate Sports Backers’ community presence, provide unparalleled value for event sponsors, and secure crucial funding for the organization’s mission. Will first joined Sports Backers in 2008.

Scott Schricker
Chief Strategic Implementation Officer

Scott Schricker becomes Chief Strategic Implementation Officer after serving as Director of Marketing. In this role, he will work across all departments of the organization, leading major initiatives and focusing on special projects for Sports Backers’ events and community programs. Scott has been with the organization since 1993.

Megan Schultz
Chief Operating Officer

Megan Schultz becomes Chief Operating Officer for Sports Backers after serving as Director of Events. As COO, Megan will manage the Events and Programs teams, providing strategic direction for the organization’s mission while also working to strengthen internal operations and processes. Megan joined Sports Backers in 2007 and had been Director of Events since 2014.

The following staff promotions were also announced:

Megan Capito
Director of Development

Megan Capito becomes Director of Development after serving as Development Manager. Megan’s responsibilities include sharing the Sports Backers’ story and impact with perspective and current donors and overseeing all fundraising campaigns. She has been with Sports Backers since 2016.

Meghan Keogh
Director of Events

Meghan Keogh becomes the Director of Events after serving as Event Director for a number of events, including the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k, Anthem Corporate Run, and Virginia Credit Union Moonlight Ride. In her new role, Meghan will oversee current events and implement new ones that inspire people to live actively and make our community more vibrant. She has been with Sports Backers since 2006.

Lauren Millard
Director of Sponsorships

Lauren Millard becomes Director of Sponsorships after previously serving as Sponsorship Manager. Her duties include securing new sponsorships, building creative partnerships and fulfilling sponsor obligations. She has been with Sports Backers since 2016.

Ashlee Snider
Director of Marketing

Ashlee Snider becomes Director of Marketing after serving as Creative Manager. Her role will expand to include managing all event and organizational promotions and strengthening the connection between the Sports Backers brand and our community. She has been with the organization since 2014.
