RVA Celebrates National Bike to Work Day on May 18

May 18th is National Bike to Work Day, and RVA is celebrating! And, you can join in the fun. Deputy Secretary of Transportation, David Tyeryar, will participate on behalf of the Governor’s Office and will deliver the annual state proclamation for May is Bike Month and National Bike to Work Day.

Here's what you need to know…

There will be five (5) commuter convoys from around the city converging on Monroe Park for a 7 a.m. gathering. The convoys are as follows:

Ellwood Thompson's
Jennifer Wampler, Captain
Meeting: 6:30 a.m.; Departing: 6:45 a.m.

Bryan Park
Sheryl Finucane, Captain
Meeting: 6:20 a.m.; Departing: 6:30 a.m.

Forest Hill Park – Stone House
Alan Cooper, Captain
Meeting: 6:30 a.m.; Departing: 6:45 a.m.

Tricycle Gardens (Church Hill)
Michael Gilbert, Captain
Meeting: 6:30 a.m.; Departing: 6:45 a.m.

Manchester – Plant Zero
Tom Bowden, Captain
Meeting: 6:30 a.m.; Departing: 6:45 a.m.

The group will depart en masse with Richmond Police Department escort down to the Capital/City Hall where everyone will disperse to their place of work.
