What to Expect on Race Day
2012 Connect Federal Credit Union Corporate 4-Miler

  • Drive the course sometime between now and race day. Scope out the area so you are familiar with it and look for places to park. Eliminate the stress.
  • Packet pickup will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Innsbrook on Wednesday, June 6th from 11am – 6pm and Thursday, June 7th from 11am – 2pm.
  • Each team captain must pick up the entire team race packets; Individuals may also pick up their packet up at these times.
  • A photo ID is required for individual packet pick up. You may pick up a packet for someone else as well, provided you have a copy of their photo ID.
  • Packet pickup on race night will be held near the start line – Apex Systems from 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm; Cox Road will be closed to traffic starting at 6:30pm
  • Race starts promptly at 7:00 pm on Cox Road near Apex Systems parking lot.
  • Post race office party, featuring food, drinks, live music and fun, will be held on the campus of Dominion until 9:30 pm.
  • Remember no baby joggers/strollers, bicycles, roller skates,  or dogs are allowed on the course. 
  • NO ALCOHOL may be consumed before the event.
  • You may NOT bring outside alcohol to the event.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

  • Food – eat Carbs (but only a fist full), review night before checklist, hydrate, rest and relax, and watch the weather report!
  • Make arrangements for family meeting area
  • Night Before Check List:

o Pin race bib on your race day shirt (we use the “B” chip so your race chip is built into your race bib)
o Body Glide
o Running watch (fully charged)
o Sunglasses
o Money (a few dollars for emergency)
o Pouch for car keys/money and change of clothes (if needed)

  • Lay out clothes you are going to wear

o Shirt
o Socks
o Underwear
o Jacket (if weather permits)
o Pants
o Hat

  • Watch the weather report
  • Towel for Car
  • Bagel (1/2)
  • Bottled water (to sip on as you are driving to the race…sip only)
  • Watch caffeine intake during the day, increase water and/or electrolyte liquids due to the heat and humidity
