2018 Trails & Ales Beer Types
Oktoberfest is a traditional, German-style Märzen. Prior to refrigeration, Märzens were brewed in the Spring and tucked away to be enjoyed after the weather cooled. Märzenbier is full-bodied, rich and toasty with a warm copper color, and ours is faithful to that tradition.
This particular beer is known as Weekend Lager because it’s what we enjoy when we want to kick back. We took ten years to brew our first Lager and hope it was worth the wait. Made in the Munich Helles style and unfiltered like all our beer, it’s a little spicy but wholly smooth.
Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.
Our Sour Wench Blackberry Ale is a fruity Berliner Weisse-style beer bursting with Oregon blackberry flavor and aroma. The fruit addition adds a beautiful violet hue, and the taste has an approachable soft tartness from kettle souring. This artful gypsy will surely lure you into the world of sour beers.
Slippery When Wit
Wit/Gose Hybrid. Our ode to summer living – tart, light, and refreshing with notes of citrus and spice. Perfect for a warm day outdoors, this wit has tons of flavor that won’t slow you down.
Amber Ale. A reference to the Triumph motorcycle, this throw-back amber ale is designed to highlight a balanced malt complexity. Scottish ale yeast and traditional UK hops give Satan’s Pony a pleasant sweetness balanced by a restrained hop character. Saddle up and enjoy the ride.
This ain’t no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to the citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine — the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit — we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you’d likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn’t tell you it was there). We’re not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the “I want my beer to taste like fruit juice” crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.
Stone Idolatrous IPA represents the elevated state of reverence that Stone extols for the venerable and almighty Hop. El Dorado & Mosaic hops have been anointed to bestow their divine qualities on this sacred brew.
