CarMax Tacky Light Run registration kicks off with ‘Christmas in July’

RICHMOND, VA – Registration is now open for the CarMax Tacky Light Run, and the event is celebrating Christmas in July with a limited number of entries currently available for a special price of $25 for adults and $10 for youth under the age of 18. The rate is only available to the first 500 registrants, and the ‘Christmas in July’ block sold out quickly in 2018. Once the block is full, registration will close and reopen on October 1 at a higher price.

The holiday-themed fun run will take place Saturday, December 14th, and the event combines one of Richmond’s favorite traditions – tacky holiday lights – with a celebration of active living and a family-friendly holiday party. The run will start and finish at Mid-lothian Mines Park, which will be transformed into the North Pole for the event. The course will take participants through the Walton Park neighborhood, one of the area’s most festive collections of holiday lights and elaborate decorations. The course includes neighborhood cheer zones, seasonal music, and a holiday cookie stop for all participants.

“It’s exciting that the CarMax Tacky Light Run has evolved into a Richmond tradition that draws participants and spectators from all over the region and beyond,” said Diane Cafritz, Chief Human Resources officer for CarMax. “We’re honored to be the lead sponsor for this much-anticipated hometown event and we look forward to seeing all of our festive friends at the starting line again this December!”
