RICHMOND, VA – The Sports Backers recently added three new team members to the organization – Jen Ross, Molly Wright and Cheryl Oliver. Jen joins the Sports Backers as the Sponsorship Manager, and Molly has come on board as the Online Marketing Assistant. Cheryl will be taking on a part-time position focusing on youth running programs in Title I schools.
Cheryl Oliver, Youth Running Coordinator
Cheryl Oliver has been involved with the Sports Backers for many years in a variety of different capacities. She started running in 2004 when she participated in the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k. Later that year, she joined the Sports Backers Marathon Training Team and completed the Richmond Marathon that November. She has been spreading the joy of running ever since. Most recently, she served as the head coach for the YMCA 10k Training Team held at Richmond Community Hospital. In her role with the Sports Backers, she will be combining her passion for running with her passion of helping the underserved community as she focuses on implementing youth fitness programs in Richmond’s Title I schools.
Jen Ross, Sponsorship Manager
Jen Ross joins the Sports Backers after seven years of handling educational programming and sponsorship for the State Fair of Virginia. She graduated from James Madison University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art and a Bachelor of Science in Print Journalism. For the Sports Backers, her main focus will be working closely with the Director of Sponsorship and Development as well as with all of the organization’s sponsors and partners to ensure that contractual obligations are upheld.
Molly Wright, Online Marketing Assistant
Molly Wright joins the Sports Backers from Impression Marketing, where she worked with clients to implement and improve online marketing strategies including blogging, SEO, and website management. She received a degree in English from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC, in December 2008. Her duties with the Sports Backers include managing all of the organization’s social media sites, designing ads, as well as placing and monitoring ads through Google, Facebook and other digital platforms.
