Sports Tourism Grant Program

One of the keys to making our region the most active community in the country is to have successful sports tourism events. Not just events that happen once… We’re talkin’ sustainable events that happen in our city annually.

That’s where you come in. If you’re putting on a cool event in Richmond, we want to help. So, fill out an RFP to tell us about it. You’ll be glad you did when we reward you with $500 to $5,000 in cash to help with the marketing costs of your event.

Why do we do this? Because these events bring in revenue for our very own local sports organizations and give Richmonders a chance to take part in great events happening in their own backyard – two things that we think are really important.

In 2011, we stroked checks to 13 different sports organizations through this program.

Program goal:
To increase the quality of sports tourism events and the number of participants they draw to the Richmond region.

Who is eligible?
Local non-profit organizations and sports groups that own or host annual events.

Details:

  • Grant money is intended for marketing of the event. Examples of how the grants should be spent include, but are not limited to: direct mail costs, purchasing mailing lists, designing brochures, printing brochures, advertising online through sport specific websites or advertising in national or regional trade publications.
  • If you have a creative idea that would make your event even more awesome, tell us! We’ll consider your request.
