Maymont provides a spectacular setting for one the premier running festivals in the country. You’ll run in the shadow of the opulent 1893 Maymont House, over tree-lined hills and fields and past wildlife areas filled with bison, deer and other animals. The beautiful estate allows spectators great visibility and easy access to multiple points along the course.
The McDonald’s X-Country Festival at Maymont is organized by the Sports Backers, who also operate the SunTrust Richmond Marathon and the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k, both nationally-recognized events known for their high quality and dedication to delivering a memorable experience for participants and spectators.
Along with the 5k and Half Marathon divisions for participants of all ages and shorter distance events for Elementary and Middle School kids, the event will also feature high school teams. There will be thousands of competitors, live bands, a live announcer, food vendors and a professional event set up.
The beautiful course starts near Maymont House and doubles back on itself several times allowing spectators easy visibility to multiple points along the course. The course takes runners past large oak and magnolia trees along with deer, bison and other animals in the animal habitat areas. In Byrd Park runners will pass a lake and scenic sculptures before returning to Maymont. The course then passes by the Children's Farm at Maymont before heading back to Maymont House and the finish line.
Mark your calendars and be sure not to miss the 6th annual McDonald's X-Country Festival at Maymont!
