Inspired by open streets projects all over the world, this event is about closing streets to cars and opening them to the public — for one day — to create a whole new healthy, sustainable and vibrant city street experience. FREE and open to everyone to do what you wish – run, walk, bike, roller blade, WHATEVER! Make sure to check out the vendors lining the streets with free activities for the entire family!
Check out highlights from the 2013 event:
RVA Streets Alive! is FREE and open to everyone!
The event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For a schedule of individual vendor activities, check back later this spring.
Broad Street from 6th to Adams Street and Brook Road from Adams to Leigh Street. For a map of the route, click here.
On-street parking is free in downtown on weekends.
Any activity that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle is encouraged along the streets which will be closed to vehicular traffic. We are looking for a diverse mix of different sports organizations, active lifestyle groups, preventative health & wellness programs, and any other organization that wants to promote physical activity.
