10k Healthy School Challenge
presented by the Virginia College Savings Plan
Join the 10k Healthy School Challenge and show how active your school is by rallying students to take part in the 10k on March 31. The middle and high schools with the highest percentage of students participating win cash!
2012 Results:
In the middle school category:
1st place: Holman Middle School ($750 *$500 for 1st place plus $250 bonus for having 100+ kids)
2nd place: Moody Middle School ($650 *$400 for 2nd place plus $250 bonus for having 100+ kids)
3rd place: Short Pump Middle School ($300)
4th place: Collegiate (Middle) School ($200)
5th place: Robious Middle School ($100)
In the high school category:
1st place: St. Christopher’s Upper School, $500
2nd place: St. Catherine’s Upper School, $400
3rd place: Godwin High School, $300
4th place: Freeman High School, $200
5th place: Deep Run High School, $100
In the small school category:
1st place: Orchard House School, $500
2nd place: Seven Hills School, $400
3rd place: Millwood School, $300
Register your school:
To register, complete an application form before Friday, February 24, 2012 (registration is now closed) . Your group must be registered in order to qualify for cash prizes.
Recruit classmates:
Increase your chances of winning by spreading the word at your school. Please note: Students are responsible for entering online or submitting an entry form and payment. The students must enter their school’s name when they register. To request Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k brochures to distribute at your school, e-mail us.
Final HSC results will be based on entries received by Tuesday, March 29, at 11:59 p.m. when online registration closes, or when the 10k fills up, whichever comes first.
Get t-shirts:
We’ll give 10k Healthy School Challenge t-shirts to all participants from your school that sign up for the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k before February 24, 2012. If your school has more than 50 students registered by February 24, 2012, you will receive a customized t-shirt with your school color and name on it. Please note: Team representatives will be responsible for the distribution of shirts.
Win money for your school:
Prize money will be awarded to the schools with the highest percentage of participation based on total school enrollment for both middle and high schools as follows (you must have a minimum of 20 students register from your school in order to be eligible for cash prizes):

Small School Division: Middle schools and high schools whose total student enrollment falls under 250 students can enter the "Small School Division" of the 10k Healthy School Challenge. Schools competing in the small school division must have a minimum of 10 students registered for the 10k in order to be eligible for cash prizes.
If your school has more than 100 students register, you will automatically win $250. The top middle school, high school and small school division winner will receive a special plaque recognizing their accomplishment as the 10k Healthy School Challenge winners.
