Kids Run RVA Gearing Up for Exciting Start to the School Year!
Kids Run RVA, an award-winning youth running initiative of Sports Backers that promotes physical activity for kids in the Richmond region, is gearing up for the start of another exciting school year. Kids Run RVA provides a variety of programs and events to instill healthy habits that last for a lifetime, including:
- Kids Run RVA Clubs meet before and after school at area elementary and middle schools.
- Our events give young Richmonders goals to work toward and celebrations worthy of all their effort and enthusiasm.
- Special training programs are designed just for kids with their health and energy in mind.
- Our grants help to get new schools and more kids running by providing funding for everything from new sneakers to discounted event entries.
To prepare for the 2015-2016 school year, Kids Run RVA has two exciting community fundraising opportunities to help support their programs:
MOSAIC Restaurant Community Give Back – Every Wednesday night, MOSAIC designates a local organization as the ‘host’ group for their ‘Community Give Back’ initiative. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 19 between 5:00pm and 9:00pm, when Kids Run RVA will be in the spotlight! MOSAIC Restaurant will give 13 percent of pre-tax receipts from guests who have dinner at MOSAIC (excluding alcohol sales) on that evening and mention they are attending for Kids Run RVA! They will also offer all restaurant patrons the opportunity to contribute with a special donation line located at the bottom of all receipts. Please consider a night out for dinner on August 19, and note that reservations are highly encouraged. MOSAIC Restaurant is located at 6229-A River Road in the River Road Shopping Center. Fleet Feet of Richmond – Fleet Feet Sports is spearheading a new initiative called the Power of Running, and it is launching nationwide throughout August. A group of suppliers have agreed to partner with Fleet Feet to benefit local communities. The two local Fleet Feet retailers (Westhampton and Short Pump locations) have chosen Kids Run RVA as the inaugural beneficiary of this initiative. A portion of proceeds of the sales of a selection of items each weekend during the months of August and September will be donated to Kids Run RVA! Jeff Wells and his team at Fleet Feet have embraced RVA since their arrival and are partnering with Kids Run RVA to promote efforts to support a healthy and active lifestyle and to reduce childhood obesity. There will be a wide range of items in the spotlight for anyone looking for new gear. The Westhampton store is located at 5600 Patterson Avenue, and the Short Pump store is located at 11651 West Broad Street in the Promenade Shops
