Registration for CarMax Tacky Light Run to Open on July 25th

Registration for the second-annual CarMax Tacky Light Run opens on Friday, July 25th, for the six kilometer (3.72 mile) holiday-themed fun run. The date for this year’s event is Saturday, December 13th, and it will once again combine one of Richmond’s favorite traditions – tacky holiday lights – with a celebration of an active lifestyle. The event will start and finish at Midlothian Mines Park and will take participants through the Walton Park neighborhood, one of the area’s most festive collections of holiday lights and decorations. Last year’s CarMax Tacky Light Run was a sellout.

To kick off the registration period, there will be a #SecretSanta gift box hunt beginning on Tuesday, July 22nd and running through Thursday, July 24th. Each day of the contest, two boxes will be hidden at iconic holiday destinations around Richmond, with clues on each location available on the CarMax Tacky Light Run Facebook page, as well as the Sports Backers Twitter and Instagram accounts. The boxes will contain a special prize and instructions on how to notify the Sports Backers that the box has been found.

On Saturday, July 26th, there will also be two ‘Tacky Takeovers’ taking place with decorations, music, and information on event registration promotional codes. The first will be at the Grove Avenue Water Stop, in the 4900 block of Grove Avenue, from 7:30am-9:30am, and the second will be at the Walton Park Community Pool from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

An untimed event, the CarMax Tacky Light Run is fit for families and groups alike. Team rebates will again be offered to encourage group participation. Teams with six to 14 members will receive a $3 rebate on all entries, and teams with 15 or more members will receive a $7 rebate on all entries.
